The All-New 2009 Big Dog Motorcycles® Coyote™:
High Performance, High Style, Lower Price
At under $24,000, the Coyote is appealing on all levels: style, price, and riding capabilities
WICHITA, KS (October 22, 2008) – Big Dog Motorcycles®, the leading manufacturer of high performance, high style motorcycles, powers into an allnew motorcycle segment with its 2009 Coyote™, a new model geared to those who seek a premium motorcycle that combines unquestionable Big Dog characteristics with nimble, dynamic handling.
“When we approached the Coyote, we had one goal,” explained Paul Hansen, Marketing Director. “To build a motorcycle that would appeal to a broader range of riders, namely through a more attractive price, but not compromise the design, style, and performance that has been expected from Big Dog Motorcycles for fifteen years. At less than $24,000, the Coyote succeeds on all counts.”
At the heart of the new Coyote is its wrinkle-black 117 cubic inch engine (1,916cc) and the award-winning six-speed BDM Balance Drive. These two components alone represent the technological DNA of all Big Dog motorcycles and – working in harmony – propels the Coyote from a standstill to 60 mph is less than four seconds. Proof that outstanding performance statistics do not necessarily mean high fuel consumption, the Coyote – as well as all Big Dog motorcycles – gets an impressive 42 miles per gallon.
The clutch, redesigned in 2008, dramatically reduces lever effort for smooth and easy gear engagement. New for 2009, a primary compensator sprocket ensures a smoother, quieter ride as more power is applied.
“The engine and transmission – as well as its hand-painted graphics and fat rear tire – are what chiefly aligns the Coyote with all Big Dog bikes; a number of design exclusive features that, although discrete, make the bike its own animal,” Hansen continued.
Its frame geometry contributes to the bike’s confident stance. The bike’s 39- degree frame rake, fork length of just two inches over standard, and 4.25-inch ground clearance make the motorcycle easy to maneuver. The a-frame swing arm rear hidden shocks and 41mm telescopic front suspension amplifies the motorcycle’s smooth ride characteristics. And the six-inch stretch in the backbone and 8½-foot length adds to its appeal.
The Coyote rides on polished billet wheels boasting a dramatic spoke design. The front tire is fitted on an 18-inch rim; the combination on the rear is a fat 250/40-R18 fitted on an 8½” wide rim. With this tire configuration, the rider, resting in a low seating position on a new, softer seat, will quickly notice is marked ability to maneuver any course, any corner, with ease and assurance.
A sleek, slender tank complements the motorcycle’s lean looks.
Other features of the 2009 Coyote are a longer kickstand to make the 665- pound bike easier to stand up; a powder-coated wrinkle-black engine; 2:1 double-barrel exhaust; polished speedometer housing and struts; and 4-piston caliper brakes in the front, 2-piston in the rear, with 2-piece full floating rotors.
Riders can make their Coyote more individual with a choice of nearly twenty base colors, a comprehensive choice of graphics, a chrome upgrade package, and an extensive line of aftermarket accessories. These include made-to-order custom seats; sissy bars; passenger seating; touring bags; and more. Big Dog Motorcycles also supports the riding lifestyle with a selection of clothing, riding gear, and collectibles.
“The Coyote convincingly distinguishes itself from traditional or conservative styling seen on other similarly priced motorcycles. Swathed in high performance, exotic design, yet a lower price, this bike hold true to our core values yet effectively carves an entirely new niche for us. We are thrilled at its potential,” Hansen continued.
